From the Home Team—Implement, Measure, and Improve
Last week, we talked about the importance of building a strong content strategy that you can use to market your business online. Now, it’s time to take action and put that strategy into practice!
In this final part of our series, we’ll dive into the process of implementing, measuring, and continuously improving your content strategy. Remember, having a plan is just the beginning. Success comes from consistent execution, careful tracking, and adapting based on what works best for your audience.
Step 1: Implementing Your Content Strategy
Now that you have a clear content strategy in place, it’s time to bring it to life. Implementing your strategy requires taking the content you’ve planned and putting it into action.
Here’s how to get started:
- Create Content in Batches: Rather than creating content on the flu, consider setting aside time each week to batch-create your content. Write multiple blog posts, shoot several videos, or schedule your social media posts in advance. Tools like Buffer or Hootsuite can help you schedule social media posts ahead of time, so you don’t have to worry about last-minute content creation.
- Stay Consistent: Follow the content calendar you’ve created to ensure that you’re posting regularly. Whether it’s blog posts, videos, or social media updates, consistency is crucial for building trust with your audience.
- Engage as You Go: Don’t just post and forget. Be active in responding to comments, answering questions, and interacting with your audience. This shows that you’re present and invested in the conversation, which can increase both engagement and loyalty.
Step 2: Measuring Your Results
Creating and sharing content is just one part of the equation; measuring its success is equally important. To truly understand if your content strategy is working, you need to track and analyze your results. This helps you see what’s resonating with your audience and where you may need to make adjustments.
Here are some key metrics you can track:
- Website Traffic: How many people are visiting your blog or website? Tools like Google Analytics can show you where your traffic is coming from (social media, search engines, etc) and which content is performing the best.
- Engagement: Are people interacting with your posts? On social media, this includes likes, comments, shares, and direct messages. On your blog, look at the average time spent on a page and the number of comments each blog post receives.
- Conversion Rate: This is one of the most important metrics for your business. How many of your audience members are clicking on your affiliate links and making purchases? You can use the tools in your Business Portal to track links and conversions by source, which we’ve explained in detail here.
- Email Metrics: If you’re using email marketing, keep an eye on open rates, click-through rates, and conversion rates for each campaign. Whether you’re using Constant Contact, Klaviyo, MailChimp, or another email marketing service, you should be able to login to your account to see these insights and determine which emails are the most effective.
- Feedback and Sentiment: Beyond numbers, listen to the feedback your audience provides. Are they asking more questions about a certain product? Do they seem excited about the content you’re sharing? This qualitative data can be just as valuable as quantitative metrics.
Step 3: Improving Your Content Strategy
Content marketing isn’t a “set it and forget it” effort. The best strategies are continually refined and improved. After measuring your results, it’s time to make adjustments and optimize your content for even better performance.
Here’s how to improve your strategy over time:
- Analyze What’s Working: Review your top-performing content and see what made it successful. Was it a specific type of content, like a product review video? Or did it come down to timing, such as being posted at the right moment when your audience was the most engaged? Understanding why certain pieces of content worked will allow you to replicate that success in the future.
- Repurpose High-Performing Content: Don’t be afraid to reuse and repurpose content that performed well. If a blog post got a lot of traffic, consider turning it into a video or creating an infographic to go with it. Repurposing content allows you to get more value from what you’ve already created and reach different segments of your audience in new ways.
- Test New Approaches: Over time, test new types of content, headlines, or calls to action. If you’ve been focusing on blog posts, try experimenting with more video content or interactive quizzes. Small tweaks and experimentation can help you discover what resonates most with your audience.
- Adjust Based on Feedback: Be open to feedback from your audience. If they’re asking for more information on a particular topic, consider creating additional content around that subject. If they’re not engaging with certain types of posts, think about what might need to change (timing, format, messaging, etc.).
Step 4: Scaling Your Content Strategy
Once you’ve implemented your content strategy and are seeing positive results, it’s time to start scaling. Expanding your content efforts is key to reaching a wider audience and increasing your affiliate earnings.
- Increase Your Content Output: As your business grows, you might want to produce more content. Consider collaborating with others to keep up with demand while maintaining quality.
- Explore Paid Promotion: If your content is performing well, it might be worth investing in paid advertising to reach more people. Social media ads or Google Ads can help you amplify your content to a broader, highly-targeted audience.
- Leverage Analytics to Scale Smartly: As your content grows, pay close attention to your metrics so you can keep a strong understanding of what’s driving the best results. As you scale the amount of content you’re producing, it’s key to know what is performing well so you can focus your attention on the types of content that are going to generate the best results.
Over time, as you improve and scale your efforts, you’ll build a strong online presence, create lasting relationships with your audience, and ultimately see greater success with your New Earth business.
