DSA Code of Ethics: a Review of Benefits and Obligations
New Earth is a member of the Direct Sellers Association, better known as the DSA. This is a good thing because it lets people know that we adhere to the highest standards in the direct sales industry. The DSA also works hard to protect the direct sales industry from adverse actions that could affect our opportunity to share our products, and the opportunity to be a Wellness Entrepreneur with New Earth.
Periodically, it’s good to review their code of ethics so that we can be sure we are meeting a high level of standards when it comes to representing New Earth.
We’ve talked about this many times when it comes to product and income claims and compliance. Section A of the Code of Ethics provides a good summary of what is covered in much more detail in the document’s entirety:
- Deceptive or Unlawful Consumer or Recruiting Practices
No member company or independent salesperson for a member company shall engage in any deceptive, false, unethical, or unlawful consumer or recruiting practice. Member companies shall ensure that no statements, promises, or testimonials are made that are likely to mislead consumers or prospective independent salespeople.
- Products, Services, and Promotional Materials
The offer of products or services for sale by member companies and their independent salespeople shall be accurate and truthful as to price, grade, quality, make, value, performance, quantity, currency of model, and availability. All product claims made by member companies and their independent salespeople must be substantiated by competent and reliable evidence and must not be misleading. A consumer’s order for products and services shall be fulfilled in a timely manner.
- Earnings Representations
Earnings representations and sales figures must be truthful, accurate, and presented in a manner that is not false, deceptive, or misleading
The above three quoted parts are best practices when we do business out in the world.
