87 Days

The weather is cooling off, the leaves are changing colors, and we have kicked off the 4th quarter of 2017. This means as of today, October 5th, we have 87 days left to reach our 2017 goals and start planning for 2018.

An important part of being a business owner is setting goals and determining the best route to achieve them. This requires a crystal clear vision of what you are striving for and what actions will be required to get you to your destination. This is no easy task.

It’s going to require you to dig deep and identify what truly motivates you. At the end of the day we can create the perfect SMART goals with a beautiful road map of necessary actions, but without motivation and a burning desire at our core, we are likely to fail. So how do we identify our motivators?

We observe those who’ve done it before. Would you take advice from someone who was a leader in the Network Marketing profession for 28 years? Someone who built a sales organization of over 500,000 distributors in more than 60 countries? Of course you would, and so would we. We are referring to Eric Worre and his thoughts on the subject.

According to Mr. Worre, your goals must go deeper than you. When you set goals for yourself, they end up empty which often causes motivation to waver. The key to tapping into your true motivators is to think about two things: growth and contribution. How will this goal help me grow? How will this goal help me contribute to other people? It is when you contribute to others lives that you will find success, satisfaction, and happiness.

There are a few common goals in Network Marketing: recruiting, customers, rank advancement, and income. It can be agreed that most network marketers would like to build an organization with thousands of distributors, would like to see an increase in their loyal customers, would love to jump ranks in their organization and most of all, would like to increase their check. Let’s have a look at these goals through the growth and contribution lenses.

Recruiting
You are in the business of building a network, and a big part of this business is leading by example. How many people would you need to recruit to grow your business? What would happen if you were able to encourage others on your team to do the same thing? You would not only see exponential growth in your business, but through your actions you would be helping, encouraging, and coaching others to do the same.

Customers
A business can’t survive without customers. What would happen to your business if you were able to shift your focus to customers and and add five new loyal customers a month? What if you were able to spread this focus through your organization and teach your team to do the same thing? What would this do for your growth? What would it do for your team’s growth?

Rank
The first two goals lead to the third, rank, and we all know that the higher the rank, the higher the level of responsibility (which is a good thing). What rank do you need to reach to satisfy your growth? How would this new rank allow you to increase your contribution to your team?

Income
Simple math would tell us that an increase in associates + increase in customers + rank promotion (+ a whole lot of work) = increased income. So what is your magic number? How much would you like to earn? You will need to keep in mind that “the reward is what you will become as a person to get there,” Eric Worre. You see, through the process of accomplishing all of these goals, you are going to experience significant growth as a person. Imagine what you can do for others when you reach this level of success. You can be a mentor, an inspiration and so much more.

This is by no means an easy journey, but it is one worth taking. You will need to invest in yourself along the way, and if you are serious, you will need to set aside both funds and time to reach your destination.

So, what are you going to do to finish 2017 strong and make 2018 your best year yet in Network Marketing?
