Is Personal Development Important?

Does personal development play a role in your success as a network marketer? Do you need to work on yourself to be successful in this industry? The simple answer is, yes, of course. However, without massive action, your hours spent on personal development become a waste of time.

Chances are you have seen aspiring network marketers struggle to succeed. So what is it that sets those who achieve great success apart from those who don’t quite make it? It can be many things. However, we are finding time and time again that those who take the time to improve themselves and then put those new skills to work are those experience the most success.

This isn’t new news. Jim Rohn has thoroughly covered the topic saying, “We generally change ourselves for one of two reasons: inspiration or desperation” but it wasn’t Mr. Rohn who came up with the idea. He was inspired by his mentor, Earl Shoaff, who told him “If you want to be wealthy and happy, learn to work harder on yourself than you do on your job.” The ones who succeed in network marketing or any other business are those who never stop working on improving themselves.

The second and perhaps the most difficult part of the equation is implementing those new skills. Do you know someone who spends hours reading personal development books, tunes into webinars and trainings but never seems to make progress in their business? Chances are, we all know those people, we may even be one of those people, the ones who hide behind personal development with fear of stepping out of their comfort zone. Taking action is the only way you will grow your business, personal development alone won’t get you there.

So what is the key to this equation? Mindset and balance. It’s dedicating time each day to improve yourself followed by even more time dedicated to taking action. This requires you to look at fear as a thing of the past. When you let your fears go, there is no such thing as failure, only feedback preparing you for your next hurdle, your next prospect, and your next success.

The top leaders in this industry have struggled to get where they are; they didn’t simply breeze their way through. They faced adversity and bumps along the way. It is their mindset and dedication to development that helped them get where they are today.

Are you prepared to work on yourself, set your fear aside, take action and become the next leader in this industry?
